The purpose of the study is to explore the role of blogs in the way Singaporeans communicate, using in-depth interviews.

Reasons for doing this project:
Currency amongst Singaporeans and in the Media
Changing the ways we relate to people and others (intra and interpersonally)

Research Questions:

  • Why are blogs so popular?
  • What are the alternatives to blogging?
  • What motivates Singaporeans to blog?
  • What are the implications of blogging in Singapore?
  • What do Singaporeans blog about?
  • Can a pattern be discerned that links either profession or age with blog content?
  • What part does blogging play in the Singaporean communication landscape?
  • What facilitates blogging?
  • What are the relationships between a blogger and his/her audience?
  • How do Singaporeans bloggers communicate with each other over blogs?
  • How do blogs play a part in intrapersonal communication?
  • What are the marketing/political possibilities in blogs?
  • How do our identities “in real life” differ or correspond to our identities on the Internet?
  • Why do people read blogs?
